A robust, adaptable and quick growing plant with a short, clustering trunk and a compact crown of light green leaves. Its common name refers to the very thick, felty, elliptic leaflets. The 'Cardboard Palm' is native to coastal areas on the southern Gulf Coast of Mexico and has become a popular plant in the horticultural trade for its ornamental qualities and its ease of growth.
